A Year in Another Place / 2006
There are complaints from readers.  They range from 'not enough to read' - these poor souls must indeed have a surfeit of time on their hands, to 'I can never tell when you put something new up.'  Ah, es verdad, as they say down south.  It does appear that after a few years of adding higgly-piggly to the site that a theme might be emerging.   What is the theme?  You thought it was old machines.... that is so yesterday.  The theme is me.  Lest that sound impossibly self-centered I would hasten to add that 'me' is only 'you' in a different skin.  Might sound difficult at first, but it is not.    Trust me.  If you don't find echoes of yourself in what is printed here then slide on to something more immediately current:  a nice blog on internecine strife, posted from a different exciting ethnic community every week, or a news channel that is following the latest spot where the electric grid is going down, forcing rapid moves, along safe corridors during prescribed hours, to a place unblemished but explosive.  The 'we' of this site may have acquired many pot holes over the years, but the meltdowns grow less frequent, forensic examination more useful, and life calmer.
I am going to try and sort the various 'chapters' - a word very loosely used, into some order. The only continuity here will be that which comes from ongoing self-examination - if that sounds utterly grandiose then imagine a man with his thumb up his butt checking his own prostate.  It would be nice if there were some chronological order, and I will aim at that as it is possible.  The presence of coherence will only be offered in the sense that you know me somewhat, my viewpoint and style have some identifiable characteristics, I am writing in a somewhat familiar vein, and there is an end point in sight - probably my demise.

I will attempt to add some navigation aids here.  If you manage to get to this page first and are interested the the machines, then open the  Machinery link at the top of the column to the left.  It briefly tells you what is what.
